Reviews
-
England in the New Millennium. Are we
prepared to save our countryside? A book on population issues by
J.F. Barker (December 2000) looks at causes, effects and potential solutions
to population pressure on cities and countryside, also tackling the contentious
issue of contribution to overpopulation made by immigration. Whilst not
wholly endorsing the views held by the author, ECO would like to encourage
others to read and comment on this book.
-
Localization: A Global Manifesto.
Published in September 2000 by Earthscan, this book by Colin Hines offers
a sustainable alternative to Globalization – strongly recommended by ECO.
-
Rethinking Green Politics.
A review of an important new book by John Barry. (September 2000)
-
The Tide Turners. A review
of Colin Macpherson's novel, centered on the world population crisis. (February
2000)
-
Tomorrow's World: a critique.
Published in 1998 by Friends of the Earth, Tomorrow's World sets
out a vision for a sustainable future. Val Stevens reviews the book, and
concludes that sustainability will elude us if we, like this book, ignore
the issue of population growth. (June1998)
